Confronting Abuse is Our Duty

Ministers, as spiritual leaders and moral guides within their communities, bear a significant responsibility to uphold and exemplify the highest ethical standards. The issue of abuse, with its deeply immoral and sinful nature, cannot be overlooked or trivialized, especially by those in positions of religious authority. Failing to address abuse not only perpetuates harm and injustice but also undermines the very essence of the spiritual and moral teachings that ministers are entrusted to convey. We urge all of our ministers and churches to abide by the mandatory reporting requirements of incidents involving sexual or other abuse of minors by the State of Hawaii.
